It is essential that the first experience of young players aged 4 and 5 is developmentally appropriate. These young players must be allowed to have fun, explore through physical activity and be given a chance to spend endless hours solving problems and playing games with a ball at their feet. If we get the experience right these young players will play for LIFE and ultimately have the opportunity to fulfil their athletic and soccer potential.

Techniques That are Focused on with this age group include:

  • Dribbling & moves
  • Increased physical literacy and ABC – agility balance and coordination
  • Short passing –hitting the ball at a TARGET leading to some sharing
